Tilak Varma’s Century Helps India Win T20I Series Against South Africa
India defeated South Africa by 11 runs in the third T20I, taking a 2-1 lead in the four-match series. Tilak Varma’s brilliant century, scoring 107 off just 51 balls, played a key role in this win, making him India’s second-youngest T20I centurion. India’s total of 237 was too high for South Africa, who will now only be able to level the series in the final match.
Tilak partnered with Abhishek Sharma to add 107 runs for the second wicket and later shared 58 runs with Rinku Singh. Together, they took India past 230. South Africa’s bowlers struggled without key players like Kagiso Rabada and bowled 10 wides and three no-balls.
South Africa began their chase with a decent start, but India’s bowlers kept the pressure on. David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen added quick runs, but Miller’s dismissal, caught at the boundary by Axar Patel, slowed them down. Marco Jansen fought hard with a quick half-century, but with 18 runs needed from the final over, South Africa couldn’t reach the target.
The match had a surprising interruption due to flying ants, which caused a 28-minute delay. The lights were dimmed briefly to reduce the swarm.
India will aim to win the final match and take the series 3-1, while South Africa hopes to level it.
