Alberta’s Amarpal Kaur Dominates Day 2 of Cricket Canada Women’s National T20 2024
The second day of the Cricket Canada Women’s National T20 2024 saw some thrilling contests at Batsman Park, with standout performances from key players and a surprising turn of events. Alberta continued their dominant run, while Ontario Fire and BC also had moments to shine. Unfortunately, the day ended on a somber note with an unexpected walkover due to injuries.
Alberta vs Eastern Provinces (Batsman Park A)
Alberta kicked off the day with a strong performance against Eastern Provinces at Batsman Park A. Batting first, Alberta posted a solid 131/4 in their 20 overs, with Amarpal Kaur leading the charge. Kaur anchored the innings with a well-crafted 42 off 43 balls, setting a challenging target for Eastern Provinces.
In response, Eastern Provinces struggled against Alberta’s disciplined bowling attack. They managed only 39/8 in their 20 overs, unable to find any momentum. Amarpal Kaur was the star once again, delivering with the ball as well, taking 2 wickets for just 2 runs in her 2 overs. Her all-round brilliance earned her the Player of the Match award.
British Columbia vs Ontario Fire (Batsman Park B)
The second match of the day at Batsman Park B saw British Columbia (BC) take on Ontario Fire. BC found themselves in trouble early on, managing only 79/7 in their 20 overs. Ontario Fire, led by Saee Purandare, chased down the target in 17.1 overs, finishing at 80/5.
Purandare played a match-winning knock, scoring 51 off 63 balls, guiding her team to victory. Her composed innings under pressure earned her the Player of the Match accolade.
Ontario Heat vs Alberta (Batsman Park A)
The afternoon match at Batsman Park A featured a nail-biting contest between Ontario Heat and Alberta. Ontario Heat batted first and struggled against Alberta’s bowling, posting 92/7 in their 20 overs.
Alberta’s chase was far from straightforward, as they lost wickets at regular intervals. However, Amarpal Kaur once again came to the rescue, scoring an unbeaten 26 off 40 balls. She also delivered a crucial spell with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 11 runs in her 4 overs. Alberta managed to scrape through with a 1-wicket victory, with Kaur securing her second Player of the Match award for the day.
British Columbia vs Eastern Provinces (Walkover)
The final match of the day was supposed to see British Columbia take on Eastern Provinces. However, due to unexpected injuries within the Eastern Provinces squad, they were unable to field a team, resulting in a walkover. British Columbia was awarded the win, ending Day 2 on a somewhat anticlimactic note.

Day 2 of the Cricket Canada Women’s National T20 2024 was highlighted by the exceptional all-round performances of Amarpal Kaur, who secured two Player of the Match awards for her contributions in both of Alberta’s victories.
