Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The 13-Year-Old Sensation Set to Shine in IPL 2025

Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 13-year-old cricket prodigy from Samastipur, Bihar, has become the youngest player to earn an IPL deal. Rajasthan Royals (RR) bought the left-handed top-order batter for an impressive INR 1.10 crore (approximately $0.13 million). His journey has already inspired countless young cricketers across India.

A Historic Achievement

On the day Vaibhav was signed, he was just 13 years and 243 days old, making him the youngest player in IPL history. Bids for him started at INR 30 lakh, but a fierce battle between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals quickly raised his price. In the end, RR secured him, adding a future star to their lineup.

A Glimpse of His Talent

Vaibhav has already proven his skills on big stages. Less than two months ago, he scored a remarkable century for India Under-19 against Australia Under-19 in a four-day match in Chennai. His 104-run knock came off just 58 balls, making him the youngest player to score a century in youth cricket at 13 years and 187 days. He broke the previous record held by Bangladesh’s current captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Domestic Cricket Success

Despite his young age, Vaibhav has already played five Ranji Trophy matches for Bihar after making his first-class debut against Mumbai earlier this year. He is also part of Bihar’s T20 team in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. On November 23, he made his T20 debut against Rajasthan.

One of his most memorable performances came in an Under-19 tournament in Bihar, where he scored an unbeaten 332 runs in the Randhir Verma Tournament. This triple-century highlights his ability to play long, impactful innings.

The Journey So Far

Vaibhav grew up in Samastipur, a city about 100 kilometers from Patna. His father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, is also his coach. Sanjeev, a former cricketer, started training Vaibhav when he noticed his son’s passion for the game. Vaibhav’s dedication and natural talent helped him rise quickly through the ranks.

Vaibhav idolizes Brian Lara and seeks advice from former India opener Wasim Jaffer. The two met during an Under-19 white-ball tournament in Bangladesh in November 2023, and Jaffer continues to guide him.

A Bright Future Awaits

Vaibhav’s selection by Rajasthan Royals is a testament to his extraordinary potential. The team, known for supporting young players, offers him the perfect platform to grow and learn. As the 2025 IPL season approaches, fans are excited to see how this young star will perform on one of the world’s biggest cricket stages.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s journey is a story of talent, hard work, and dreams coming true. At just 13, he has already achieved what many players can only imagine. The cricket world eagerly awaits the next chapter of this incredible journey.
