Halifax Cricket Club – Cannons emerged as the champions of the HCL 40-Overs 2024 after a resounding 82-run victory over Hfx-Titans Cricket Club in the final held on August 30, 2024. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Cannons set a target of 182 runs, bowled out in 36 overs. In response, the Titans could only muster 100 runs before being bowled out in 28 overs, handing the Cannons a well-deserved triumph.
The match marked the culmination of a fiercely contested league, featuring five competitive teams: Halifax Cricket Club – Cannons, Halifax-Titans Cricket Club, Nova Scotia Avengers Cricket Club, Scotia Strikers Cricket Club, and East Coast Cricket Club. After several thrilling matches, the Cannons and the Titans emerged as the top two teams, earning their spots in the final.
Abhirup from Halifax-Titans Cricket Club was the standout batsman of the tournament, finishing as the highest run-scorer with 168 runs in 5 innings. Shadab Ahmed of Halifax Cricket Club – Cannons dominated with the ball, taking 12 wickets in 5 innings to become the leading wicket-taker of the league.
In the fielding department, Kalpesh Raval from Nova Scotia Avengers Cricket Club shone brightly, claiming 8 dismissals in just 3 innings, showcasing exceptional skill and agility.
